Industry"s Highest Performance Audio Volume Control ICs From TI Target Professional Audio Applications
TUCSON, Ariz., April 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Instruments (TI) Incorporated
(NYSE: TXN - news) today introduced the industry"s highest performance audio volume
control ICs (Integrated Circuits) from the company"s Burr-Brown product line
designed for a wide variety of professional and high-end consumer audio
applications.

The two-channel PGA2311 and four-channel PGA4311 are digitally-controlled
analog audio volume control ICs, which offer independent control over two or
four audio channels, respectively, via a serial interface.
Featuring 120dB
dynamic range, 0.0002 percent THD+N, -130dB interchannel crosstalk, 2.5uVrms
output noise and operation from +/-5V analog power supplies, the devices
improve system performance in audio amplifiers, mixing consoles, multi-track
recorders, broadcast studio equipment, high-end A/V receivers, effects
processors, musical instruments and high-end car audio systems.

Incorporating internal high-performance operational amplifiers, the
PGA2311 and PGA4311 yield low noise and distortion while providing the
capability to drive 600-ohm loads directly without buffering.
A three-wire
serial control interface allows for connection to a variety of host
controllers and supports daisy chaining of multiple PGA2311 and PGA4311
devices.
Other features include a wide gain and attenuation range of +31.5dB
to -95.5dB with 0.5dB steps, zero crossing detection and a mute function.

The two-channel PGA2311 is packaged in a DIP-16 and SOL-16 and priced from
$4.95 in 1,000 piece quantities (suggested resale pricing).
The four-channel
PGA4311 is packaged in an SOP-28 and priced from $8.95 in 1,000 piece
quantities (suggested resale pricing).
